Terms of service
The short version: your notes are yours. We keep the service running as well as we can, it is still early, and you can leave with everything at any time.
Who these terms are between
These terms are between you and Digital Notebook (“we”). By creating an account or using the app, the browser extension, the desktop app or your notebook email address, you agree to them.
An early product
Digital Notebook is in beta. Features change, and things sometimes break. We provide the service “as is”, without guarantees that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — export is always available inside the notebook.
Your content
- It stays yours. You own what you write, capture, import and email to your notebook.
- What you let us do with it. You give us permission to store, process and display your content only as needed to run the features you use — for example saving it, matching it to what you are writing, and the cloud features described in the privacy policy. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
- What you are responsible for. Only save material you have the right to keep. Saving public web pages or videos for your own reference is what the product is for; republishing them is up to you and the law where you are.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Digital Notebook to break the law, to attack or overload the service, to get into accounts that aren’t yours, or to resell access. Don’t share your capture links or notebook email address with people you wouldn’t let write in your notebook.
Accounts and access
Access is currently by invitation. You are responsible for your sign-in account. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
Paid plans
- Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe.
- You can cancel at any time; your plan continues until the end of the period you have paid for.
- If you are unhappy in the first 14 days of a new paid plan, email us and we will refund it.
- If we change a price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal.
- Capture and search are never behind the paywall. If a paid plan ends, your notes stay yours and stay available.
Leaving
You can export your notes and stop using the service at any time. To delete your account and everything in it, email support@thenotebook.site; we will do it within 30 days. If we ever shut the service down, we will give you at least 60 days’ notice to export.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data you could have exported, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update this page and its date and tell you in the app before the change applies.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protections of the law where you live.
